SUMMARY:WRIF Film: Custodian
DESCRIPTION:Travis\, a musician living in his car\, gets a job as a custodian at a music studio and starts recording his album in secret. Shot in Vermont and New Hampshire for a shoestring budget of $1\,000\, this is the debut feature by filmmaker and musician Loren Howard. \n“You should see this movie.” – Cedar O’Dowd\, WRIF Festival Coordinator \nABOUT THE FILMMAKER \nLoren David Howard is a filmmaker from the small city of Claremont\, NH. He works as an apprentice editor and post-production technician at Florentine Films\, and self-produces films\, skits\, web series\, and music videos. Starting off as a musician\, he began editing early in life\, putting together music videos and filming live events. Soon after high school\, he honed in on his craft while taking filmmaking courses at Keene State College\, and juggling public access television jobs to get more familiar with video technology. His love for filmmaking didn’t stop at editing\, and he has a plethora of unmade screenplays\, and a catalogue of short films he directed/produced. You can find most of his media on YouTube\, on his channel\, adbinormal choward. \nTickets & Festival Passes Available Here: https://uvjam.org/wrif-2024/

SUMMARY:Farm to Film Fest 2023
DESCRIPTION:It matters how farmers farm and eaters eat. Our current food system is not supporting people or the planet – but there is tremendous hope for change. By developing a deeper understanding of regenerative agriculture and the indigenous practices it is rooted in\, we can all do our part to support transformational change. Join us for a day of food\, films\, live music\, workshops\, thoughtful discussion\, dancing and more! \nFarm to Film Fest 2023 is a collaboration between JAM – Junction Arts & Media\, Vital Communities\, and King Arther Baking Company\, made possible in part through support from Vermont Humanities and media sponsor Vermont Public that aims to build awareness of the importance of agriculture as a climate solution and of the harms the current exploitive\, racist\, and unsustainable food system creates. Our mission is to promote Upper Valley farms that are taking direct climate action and to share hopeful solutions for climate crisis. \nView Farm To Film Festival 2023 schedule.

SUMMARY:Utica: The Last Refuge Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Join 3CVT\, TRORC\, GMEDC\, SHARe\, Vital Communities\, and regional partners for a pre-screening community potluck\, film\, and post-film panel discussion on “Utica: The Last Refuge”.\nThis film is about immigration and inclusivity\, how refugees positively impact local economies\, and all the struggles they face. It directly relates to challenges in the Upper Valley including: housing\, childcare\, transportation\, diversity\, food security\, inclusivity\, and more.\nFREE and open to the public!\nLet us know you’re coming HERE\n\nSchedule:\n5:30PM Community Reception & Potluck – Briggs Opera House Lobby\, 2nd floor\n6:30PM “Utica: The Last Refuge” Film Screening & Post-Film Discussion Panel – Briggs Opera House\n\nAbout The Film\n“Utica: The Last Refuge tells the story of how a struggling rustbelt city has rebounded via the major contribution of its refugee population. Given that there are 25 million refugees globally\, fewer than 1% of whom are likely to be resettled by current standards\, there is a lot to be learned from Utica’s example.\nWe know that resettling refugees is one way we can fulfill our humanitarian obligations. If it can be shown that doing so benefits the communities in which they land\, which is well supported by data\, ramping the program up makes great sense.”\nLearn more at about the film HERE.\nWe strive to host inclusive\, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility\, please contact masbury@trorc.org.
