SUMMARY:Farm to Film Fest 2023
DESCRIPTION:It matters how farmers farm and eaters eat. Our current food system is not supporting people or the planet – but there is tremendous hope for change. By developing a deeper understanding of regenerative agriculture and the indigenous practices it is rooted in\, we can all do our part to support transformational change. Join us for a day of food\, films\, live music\, workshops\, thoughtful discussion\, dancing and more! \nFarm to Film Fest 2023 is a collaboration between JAM – Junction Arts & Media\, Vital Communities\, and King Arther Baking Company\, made possible in part through support from Vermont Humanities and media sponsor Vermont Public that aims to build awareness of the importance of agriculture as a climate solution and of the harms the current exploitive\, racist\, and unsustainable food system creates. Our mission is to promote Upper Valley farms that are taking direct climate action and to share hopeful solutions for climate crisis. \nView Farm To Film Festival 2023 schedule.

SUMMARY:Juneteenth\, a Celebration of Freedom - The City of Lebanon
DESCRIPTION:Juneteenth\, a Celebration of Freedom. The City of Lebanon Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Commission invites the community to join us in the City’s inaugural Juneteenth celebration on June 19\, 2022 at 5pm in Colburn Park\, downtown Lebanon. \n\n\nJuneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans. Although President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was issued January 1\, 1863\, it took more than two years for the institution of slavery to end in Texas. On June 19\, 1865\, Union Army General Gordon Granger read General Order No. 3 in Galveston\, Texas\, proclaiming freedom for enslaved people in that state. President Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independent Day Act into Law on June 17\, 2021. \n\n\nThe program will include musical performances\, a reading of the Emancipation Proclamation\, and a presentation about formerly enslaved people who resided in Lebanon and the abolitionist movement in our community. Traditional red punch and red velvet cake will be served. Please join us on June 19 at 5pm for this very special celebration of freedom! \n\nEvent will be recorded by and aired on CATV.
