Bring a lunch and join us in the JAM space to chew and chat with producer Wei Dai about the process of producing films. \nWei Dai \n \nWei Dai is an associate producer\, assistant editor\, and project manager born and raised in Beijing. In addition to holding coveted internships at Participant Media\, Blossoms Entertainment\, Eastgate Productions\, and Matador Content\, Wei produced the short film ACT OF WAR\, which was selected and awarded by multiple festivals\, including the Academy-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival. Wei holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Film and Television from Boston University and a Masters of Fine Arts from the Peter Stark Producing Program at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.

DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE \nAccording to SAG-AFTRA\, intimacy coordinators are “industry professionals\, intimacy coordinators work closely with production personnel to realize the director’s vision while promoting adherence to safety related terms and conditions.” Join VT-based Intimacy Coordinator Marci Diamond\, MPA\, AEA\, SAG-AFTRA for an interactive workshop exploring industry best practices and resources for filming scenes that include intimacy and/or nudity. Clear\, respectful\, professional boundaries and communication among departments and talent\, from casting through production and post\, can enable us to sustainably and effectively craft more compelling stories. Based on participants’ interest\, we can discuss approaches and resources for both live and on-camera productions. Note: this workshop will NOT prepare you to be an intimacy coordinator\, which requires significant training\, but rather provide a practical understanding of ways to create safer sets supportive of creative risk-taking; why\, when and how to work with qualified intimacy coordinators; and career pathways for those interested in this important crew role. \nMarci Diamond \n \nMarci Diamond\, M.P.A\, SAG-AFTRA\, AEA\, CPT (she/hers) is a VT-based professional intimacy coordinator & choreographer\, union screen & stage actor\, circus performer\, teaching artist and consultant. She has trained with TIE\, IDI\, ICC\, SAFD\, and NECCA\, among others\, and has an extensive background in social justice organizing and public health\, formerly teaching at Boston University and serving as Chair of the National Sexual Violence Resource Center Advisory Council. Marci manages The Actors Company\, and co-founded Diamond Family Circus with her daughter Marisa\, working globally from Nunavut to Aotearoa New Zealand. As a team\, they are the New England SAG-AFTRA delegates to the VT AFL-CIO\, and are currently in preproduction on a SAG-AFTRA microbudget dramedy\, “Boris & Natasha.”

SUMMARY:Film Scoring Workshop with Ian Soderberg & Ana Hausmann
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE \nThis workshop aims to provide a broad overview of film scoring and composition and will focus on various basic elements of the composer’s toolbox. We will cover digital audio workstations (DAWs)\, compositional techniques\, development of themes and motifs\, how and when to include music when scoring\, and different approaches to scoring within various genres in addition to some discussion about collaborating with filmmakers and animators\, some tips for beginners\, and advice on networking based on our own experiences as composers in a rural setting. \nIan Soderberg is a composer\, pianist\, and vocalist working primarily within choral and chamber mediums. His passion lies in fostering community through music-making and he has premiered commissioned works with the New Hampshire Master Chorale\, Pemi Choral Society\, Ithaca Children’s Choir\, and the New Hampshire Children’s Chorus Festival Choir. Ian also collaborates with visual artists\, scoring short films\, animated works\, and video games. He received his BM in Music Composition from Ithaca College\, where he studied under Dana Wilson\, Jorge Grossmann\, and Evis Sammoutis. Currently\, he works as Administrative Supervisor of Anatomic Pathology Support at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. His credits include MOUSE (2021)\, Zeppo! (2022)\, and Undercurrents (2024). \nAna Hausmann is a composer\, poet\, musician and songwriter from Central Vermont. She loves creating experimental electro-acoustic compositions featuring a blend of violin extended technique\, electronic sounds\, and field recordings. Last year\, her work was featured in the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival. Ana also enjoys scoring short films and writing folk music. She holds an MFA in Music Composition from the Vermont College of Fine Arts\, where she studied film scoring\, songwriting\, and electronic composition\, among other genres. She is the Administrative Coordinator at the Summit School of Traditional Music and Culture in Montpelier\, VT.

As a writer-director\, his work includes the short films Hug\, Three and a Half Thoughts\, Chrysalis\, and the forthcoming feature-length film Gumbo.

Originally from Iowa\, she now lives in White River Junction\, Vermont\, where she is a student at the Center for Cartoon Studies. She has performed with and built puppets for Bread and Puppet Theater. Her cartoons have appeared in The New Yorker\, the Rumpus\, and elsewhere. Her first novel\, titled Paradise Pawn\, will be published this summer.
