SUMMARY:Tallywacker Screening and Live Band Performance
DESCRIPTION:A rock and roll buddy comedy about 2 bandmates whose relationship gets tested when one of them gets a gig touring with a major rock star. Tallywacker has screened for audiences at Dances With Films in New York City\, IFF Boston and the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood. \nWhen he gets a shot at the big time\, Allister (Jeremy Dubs)\, a rock musician with brittle bone disease\, is forced to choose between a life of touring or remaining in Boston with bandmate Emmett (Chris Goodwin) and protective mother Bonnie. Award winning\, independent filmmaker Brendan Boogie (Sundown\, The Sympathy Card) returns to the festival with another offbeat buddy comedy about independence and the price of (regional) fame. \nHey\, it’s the band from the movie! This screening is accompanied by a live performance from two-piece rock duo\, Tallywacker! \n\n\n \n \n TALLYWACKER RSVP\n \n \n Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email\n \n Number of attendees\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ \n \n\nTRAILER\n \nABOUT THE FILMMAKERS\nBrendan Boogie (Writer/Director/Producer) \n \nA Massachusetts native\, Brendan is an LA-based director with three award-winning feature films – including Sundown and The Sympathy Card  – under his belt. His background in psychology allows Brendan to tell funny\, compelling\, and human stories in a unique and moving way. \nJeremy Dubs (Producer/Actor/Musician) \n \nJeremy Dubs is a musician\, actor\, disabled activist and City Councilor who has been flying by the seat of his wheelchair his entire life\, learning how to navigate inaccessible and ableist environments since childhood. In 2004\, at the age of 27\, he moved from central Pennsylvania to western Massachusetts to dedicate his time to performing with his rock band. His creative pursuits throughout the years led him to singing on the first new Pixies album in 20 years (Indie Cindy\, 2014)\, and acting in the lead role of “Aleister Budd” in the new independent comedy film Tallywacker\, loosely based on his life as a touring musician with a disability. Recently\, Jeremy released a new album called Horror Spectrum with his psychedelic-prog band Bunnies. As an activist\, he co-founded the anti-ableist organization called the Disableist Movement with his friend Olivia Marshall. On April 23\, 2022\, the two of them led a march through the streets of the city of Northampton\, chanting messages demanding more accessibility such as “ADA is not enough. Reasonable access now!” and “Why are we in the streets? Because the sidewalks suck!” On November 7th\, 2023\, Jeremy Dubs was elected to be the first wheelchair user in the history of Northampton’s City Council. Jeremy has remained a constant vocal advocate raising awareness to the rights and freedoms of all disabled people. He is currently finishing up his first term and is running for re-election this November\, which coincidentally is also the month that Tallywacker will be released on digital streaming services across the world. \nChris Goodwin (Producer/Actor/Musician) \n \nChris is a Boston-based actor\, producer\, writer\, and director. He wrote\, directed\, and produced the award-winning romantic comedy On the 7th Date and has appeared in acclaimed films including Eephus\, Everwinter Night\, Ice Patrol and Adult A.D.R. Chris has been a multi-instrument musician throughout his life and is currently the bassist for the indie rock band Warrens when he’s not rocking out with Tallywacker. \n

DESCRIPTION:WRIF wants YOU… to join our Planning Session on Wed 11/19 12-1PM! \nWhite River Indie Films was formed in 2004 to bring the best of local and global cinema to the Upper Valley. In 2022\, WRIF merged with JAM\, which now hosts the annual White River Indie Film Festival (WRIF). Next year\, we’re expanding WRIF to White River Indie Festival — a week of arts and ideas celebrating the full spectrum of independent creativity\, music\, performance\, and film in the Upper Valley.  WRIF 2026 will run from March 1-8. Let us know how you want to be involved! Fill out our interest form. \nWe want to expand WRIF as an annual tentpole event that elevates our unique White River Junction village and the broader area. Your participation will be key to WRIF’s expansion and celebration of our arts-rich region!  You’re invited to brainstorm how you and your business/organization can get involved. \nPlease join us for a brown-bag lunch and planning session next Wednesday 11/19\, 12-1PM.  Zoom link will also be available for remote participation. \n\nLet us know how you want to be involved! SUMMARY:Video Stop II: Bad Video
DESCRIPTION:The year is 2003. It’s a Friday which means one thing – movie night. You are buckled into the Goldfish crumb-crusted booster seat in the back of a ’95 Honda Civic with a power steering leak. 50 Cent’s “In da Club” blasts over the radio as you pull into the parking lot of your local\, chain Video rental store. You are permitted to select ONE movie. The carpet is sticky and the staff is unhelpful and rude. Among the disorganized shelves\, you find it – the movie all your friends are quoting\, Mel Brooks’ Robin Hood: Men in Tights. The sticker on the cover reads “PG-13.” Your heart races as you slide the VHS tape onto the counter. Your exhausted parent doesn’t seem to notice. The handheld scanner beeps and the disgruntled teenaged employee slides the tape into a plastic bag. Third grade is gonna be YOUR year\, baby! \nTragically\, many of today’s youth will never know how good we used to have it. BUT you can give them the next best thing! From the mind of Chico Eastridge comes Video Stop II: Bad Video! Visit this pop up VHS store/ art installation December-January\, in the back of JAM to rent movies on VHS like the good ol’ days! Don’t have a way to play it? No problem! VHS players are also available for loan. \nOpen when we feel like it.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a FREE preview of White River Indie Films 2026 with our friends at the Hopkins Center For the Arts!\nBill Skarsgård\, Colman Domingo and Al Pacino star in Gus Van Sant’s kidnap thriller based on the true story of an infamous 1977 ransom over a business deal gone bad. \nOscar nominee Gus Van Sant (Milk\, Good Will Hunting) has used cinema as a means of mirroring American life in all its extremes and complexities. Graced with captivating performances from Bill Skarsgård\, Colman Domingo\, Cary Elwes and Al Pacino\, Van Sant’s latest taps into the culture’s hunger for outlaw folk heroes who seek to wrest control from the privileged elite. \nIt is February 1977. Having fallen behind on his mortgage and\, as a result\, lost the commercial property he’d dreamed of developing\, aspiring Indianapolis entrepreneur Tony Kiritsis (Skarsgård) kidnaps Meridian Mortgage Company president Richard Hall (Dacre Montgomery\, Stranger Things). His ransom demands include the $5 million he believes Meridian deliberately cheated him of and a heartfelt apology from the company’s founder (Pacino)—who is enjoying a luxury vacation in Florida\, a fact that only stokes Tony’s ire. \nThe feature screenwriting debut of Austin Kolodney (Funny Or Die)\, Dead Man’s Wire resonates powerfully with present-day class resentments. It’s also darkly funny\, wildly entertaining\, and rife with appealing supporting characters\, especially Domingo’s beloved local disc jockey\, whom Tony manages to rope into the negotiations. \nFor more info\, visit the Hop website.

SUMMARY:NOVEL FORMATS at AVA Gallery
DESCRIPTION:NOVEL FORMATS ON-SITE\nA project by Rachel Bernsen and Collaborators: Megan Craig\, Chico Eastridge\, JAM – Junction Arts & Media\, Noah Mease\, and Jean Carla Rodea \nOpening reception: Friday\, January 16\, 5-7 PM \nDates: January 16\, 2026 – February 14\, 2026 \nScheduled performances: Fri. 1/23 and Sat. 1/24; Fri. 2/6 and Sat. 2/7 | Reception 6:30 PM\, performances at 7 PM \nWatch previous performances of Novel Formats (set at JAM; produced by Chico Eastridge) here. \nTickets and more information on the AVA Gallery website. \n  \nNovel Formats is a cycle of seven performance works that explore the phenomenal nature of dance in conversation with forms outside itself. Each dance is unique\, and each work in Novel Formats is a distinct collaboration between dance\, music\, and visual art. For each\, artists come together from a range of practices and\, in varying permutations\, engage collectively in performance making. In doing so\, they investigate the social and political dimensions of improvisation. The works demonstrate that improvisation can be a shared experience that transcends discipline: it is a communal practice\, a way to be in relationship with oneself\, with others\, and the world. To date\, three works in the Novel Formats cycle have been created and performed: #1: A Dialogue\, #2: The Set Up\, #3: Loop. AVA will be premiering performances of the next two works: #5: For A Time\, #6: You Are Here\, Change\, Change\, Change.

SUMMARY:WRIF Preview Screening: It Was Just an Accident @ the HOP
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a White River Indie Festival 2026 Preview Screening event with our friends at the Hopkins Center!\nVahid\, an unassuming mechanic\, is suddenly reminded of his time in an Iranian prison when he has a chance encounter with Eghbal\, a man he strongly suspects to be his sadistic former jailhouse captor. He kidnaps him but nagging uncertainty delays a fatal retribution. Panicked\, Vahid rounds up a few of his fellow ex-prisoners to try and confirm Eghbal’s identity. As the bickering group drives around Tehran with their captive\, they must confront how far to take matters into their own hands with their presumed tormentor. \nMaster filmmaker Jafar Panahi creates a searing moral thriller\, where high-stakes tension combines with unexpected flurries of humor and the thoughtful\, devastating choices between revenge and mercy. Through handheld camerawork and intimate long takes\, Panahi crafts a profound meditation on trauma\, empathy and the corrosive legacy of state violence. \nD: Jafar Panahi\, Iran/France\, subtitled\, 2025\, 1h43m \n  \nTickets: buy on the Hop website.* \n*WRIF Passholders will gain entry for free! Buy passes here. \n  \nFor a full WRIF schedule\, tickets\, film guide\, and other information\, visit the WRIF Homepage.
