SUMMARY:WRIF Preview Screening: It Was Just an Accident @ the HOP
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a White River Indie Festival 2026 Preview Screening event with our friends at the Hopkins Center!\nVahid\, an unassuming mechanic\, is suddenly reminded of his time in an Iranian prison when he has a chance encounter with Eghbal\, a man he strongly suspects to be his sadistic former jailhouse captor. He kidnaps him but nagging uncertainty delays a fatal retribution. Panicked\, Vahid rounds up a few of his fellow ex-prisoners to try and confirm Eghbal’s identity. As the bickering group drives around Tehran with their captive\, they must confront how far to take matters into their own hands with their presumed tormentor. \nMaster filmmaker Jafar Panahi creates a searing moral thriller\, where high-stakes tension combines with unexpected flurries of humor and the thoughtful\, devastating choices between revenge and mercy. Through handheld camerawork and intimate long takes\, Panahi crafts a profound meditation on trauma\, empathy and the corrosive legacy of state violence. \nD: Jafar Panahi\, Iran/France\, subtitled\, 2025\, 1h43m \n  \nTickets: buy on the Hop website.* \n*WRIF Passholders will gain entry for free! Buy passes here. \n  \nFor a full WRIF schedule\, tickets\, film guide\, and other information\, visit the WRIF Homepage.

SUMMARY:WRIF Preview Screening: The History of Sound @ the HOP
DESCRIPTION:For Valentine’s day\, join us for a White River Indie Festival 2026 Preview Screening event with our friends at the Hopkins Center! In The History of Sound\, Paul Mescal and Josh O’Connor play early 20th-century music students in this heartfelt\, understated romance that spans decades and continents.\nWhile growing up in rural Kentucky at the turn of the 19th century\, Lionel (Mescal) demonstrates a profound gift for music that leads him to a scholarship at the Boston Conservatory of Music. There\, he meets the upper-class\, polished David (O’Connor) through their shared passion for folk ballads. World War I separates them\, but they reunite for an idyllic musicological field trip through rural New England\, listening to and recording local people singing their homemade compositions. \nDirector Oliver Hermanus (Living) creates an intoxicating\, nostalgic period atmosphere\, with folk songs\, augmented subtly by Oliver Coates’s score. Mescal and O’Connor are two of the best actors alive right now\, and they make this beguiling\, hearttugging romance as believable as it is beautiful. \nD: Oliver Hermanus\, US\, 2025\, 2h7m \n  \nTickets: buy on the Hop website.* \n*WRIF Passholders will gain entry for free! Buy passes here. \n  \nFor a full schedule\, tickets\, film guide\, and other information\, visit the WRIF Homepage.

SUMMARY:Story JAM: Bi-Monthly Storytelling Circle
DESCRIPTION:In a society increasingly divided and isolated\, storytelling can bring us together. Story Jam is a bi-monthly story circle where community members can meet to get to know each other through personal stories. All members of the Upper Valley community are invited to join the circle and share an unrehearsed 5-minute true story from their own life. No competition\, no judgment\, no lecturing\, no ranting… Just share a story about something that happened to you and listen to other people’s stories. Whether you are a new or seasoned storyteller; whether you are shy or extroverted – all are welcome! The moderators will keep track of time to make sure everyone has a chance to speak. \nFor more info\, reach us at storyjam@uvjam.org

SUMMARY:Chronicle on Choice & Consequence
DESCRIPTION:A media arts exhibit in Junction Arts & Media by artist janet e. dandridge. \n“In 2019\, Yrneh Gabon\, Artivist & actor\, invited me to participate in a group show at the 2020 Dakar Biennale. Excited and eager to exhibit in my first international art fair\, I began creating a new live performance work. Then the Covid 19 pandemic happened. In 2022\, the biennale was re-opened and the group show was back on. However\, in 2021\, I became pregnant with my son. Once I became aware of the new dates for the biennale within months of its opening\, I had to make a quick decision\, “Do I withdraw completely\, or do I create a new work in this short period of time?” I realized that I could make a work using a readily accessible medium to convey the love\, the doubt\, the strength\, and the choices that must be made once someone becomes a parent. Chronicle on Choice and Consequence (CCC)\, an intimate video work\, explores the labor of motherhood and of one’s career. CCC reflects on definitions of labor\, and how pregnancy\, delivery\, and childrearing are undervalued. Chronicle on Choice and Consequence contributes to the discourse on improving laws\, and societal and cultural perspectives for Labor Rights and Women’s Rights.” \njanet e. dandridge.
Chronicle on Choice and Consequence contributes to the discourse on improving laws\, and societal and cultural perspectives for Labor Rights and Women’s Rights.” \njanet e. dandridge. Mother\, Interdisciplinary Artivist\, Arts & Activism Educator and Consultant\, Liberator\, Listener\, Empathy Sustainer.
