SUMMARY:Tallywacker Screening and Live Band Performance
DESCRIPTION:A rock and roll buddy comedy about 2 bandmates whose relationship gets tested when one of them gets a gig touring with a major rock star. Tallywacker has screened for audiences at Dances With Films in New York City\, IFF Boston and the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood. \nWhen he gets a shot at the big time\, Allister (Jeremy Dubs)\, a rock musician with brittle bone disease\, is forced to choose between a life of touring or remaining in Boston with bandmate Emmett (Chris Goodwin) and protective mother Bonnie. Award winning\, independent filmmaker Brendan Boogie (Sundown\, The Sympathy Card) returns to the festival with another offbeat buddy comedy about independence and the price of (regional) fame. \nHey\, it’s the band from the movie! This screening is accompanied by a live performance from two-piece rock duo\, Tallywacker! \n\n\n \n \n TALLYWACKER RSVP\n \n \n Name\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email\n \n Number of attendees\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Δ \n \n\nTRAILER\n \nABOUT THE FILMMAKERS\nBrendan Boogie (Writer/Director/Producer) \n \nA Massachusetts native\, Brendan is an LA-based director with three award-winning feature films – including Sundown and The Sympathy Card  – under his belt. His background in psychology allows Brendan to tell funny\, compelling\, and human stories in a unique and moving way. \nJeremy Dubs (Producer/Actor/Musician) \n \nJeremy Dubs is a musician\, actor\, disabled activist and City Councilor who has been flying by the seat of his wheelchair his entire life\, learning how to navigate inaccessible and ableist environments since childhood. In 2004\, at the age of 27\, he moved from central Pennsylvania to western Massachusetts to dedicate his time to performing with his rock band. His creative pursuits throughout the years led him to singing on the first new Pixies album in 20 years (Indie Cindy\, 2014)\, and acting in the lead role of “Aleister Budd” in the new independent comedy film Tallywacker\, loosely based on his life as a touring musician with a disability. Recently\, Jeremy released a new album called Horror Spectrum with his psychedelic-prog band Bunnies. As an activist\, he co-founded the anti-ableist organization called the Disableist Movement with his friend Olivia Marshall. On April 23\, 2022\, the two of them led a march through the streets of the city of Northampton\, chanting messages demanding more accessibility such as “ADA is not enough. Reasonable access now!” and “Why are we in the streets? Because the sidewalks suck!” On November 7th\, 2023\, Jeremy Dubs was elected to be the first wheelchair user in the history of Northampton’s City Council. Jeremy has remained a constant vocal advocate raising awareness to the rights and freedoms of all disabled people. He is currently finishing up his first term and is running for re-election this November\, which coincidentally is also the month that Tallywacker will be released on digital streaming services across the world. \nChris Goodwin (Producer/Actor/Musician) \n \nChris is a Boston-based actor\, producer\, writer\, and director. He wrote\, directed\, and produced the award-winning romantic comedy On the 7th Date and has appeared in acclaimed films including Eephus\, Everwinter Night\, Ice Patrol and Adult A.D.R. Chris has been a multi-instrument musician throughout his life and is currently the bassist for the indie rock band Warrens when he’s not rocking out with Tallywacker. \n
