In addition to an early career in politics during which he served seven years in the Vermont House of Representatives on progressive economic efforts and youth empowerment\, Matt was employed by the Clinton Administration as Director of the AmeriCorps*VISTA program overseeing 6000 full-time people in the fight against poverty. Following his later work as a strategy consultant to nonprofit and for-profit companies\, Google hired Matt to create their community affairs program. More recently\, his passion for empowering rural communities was turned into action with an appointment at the MIT Media Lab and when he founded the Center on Rural Innovation\, an action tank dedicated to closing the opportunity gap in small towns and where he now serves as Executive Director. \nDon’t miss hearing what Matt has to say about what Vermont and U.S. rural businesses need to know to thrive.
