my_movie.mp4: A Video Art Installation

 Local artist Charlie Rose will present a debut media arts installation “My_movie.mp4,” a video art experience using internet videos from 2006-2013 which have been corrupted and manipulated to create visual abnormalities. The work will be on display free to the public December 19-23 from 5:00 – 6:00 PM at JAM – Junction Arts & Media, 5 S. Main Street, 1st Floor, White River Junction, VT. 

“My_movie.mp4” is an exhibit exploring exposure to the internet as a child. This challenging, often abstract digital collage was created through deleting I-frames and hex bending. This process breaks the videos – like the virtual version of hitting a DVD player with a hammer. This creates a pixelated Rorschach test which invites its viewers to create meaning out of contextless images.
