Artist Spotlight

JAM Artist Spotlight: Andrea Marion
I was a 1970s hitchhiker, a teaching assistant in a French High School in ’80-’81, a corporate marketing manager for 20 years, a medicinal herb farmer for a few seasons, and the founder/owner of a yoga and mindfulness studio since 2006; writer/screenwriter as of 2020.
In 2008, I began writing, perched on the couch with a MacBook, typing away for days, years. I graduated from Dartmouth College in 2025 with a master’s in arts and liberal studies, writing concentration. During this time, I completed two novels, 720 pages of screenplay, and numerous essays and short stories. My fiction is published in “Clamantis”, the Dartmouth College Literary Journal. Scripts have won awards in 2025 film festivals, including the Oscar-qualifying Atlanta Film Festival. The limited series screenplay, “Make Tracks”, brings to life the freedom and optimism of the hippie days of 70s hitchhiking and hopping trains for 35,000 miles. The main character is Jack. His experiences are based on my husband’s real-life adventures between 1974 and 1979. The continuation novel, “Make Tracks”, is a magical realist love story about Jack and his true love, Char, caught in the adventures of their shortcomings. It is loosely based on my and my husband’s life after we met in 1979. In addition to the fiction, I produce a public access TV series, Community Mindfulness. It’s a weekly guided mindfulness practice suitable for those beginning or experienced in mindfulness.
