SUMMARY:Video Stop II: Bad Video
DESCRIPTION:The year is 2003. It’s a Friday which means one thing – movie night. You are buckled into the Goldfish crumb-crusted booster seat in the back of a ’95 Honda Civic with a power steering leak. 50 Cent’s “In da Club” blasts over the radio as you pull into the parking lot of your local\, chain Video rental store. You are permitted to select ONE movie. The carpet is sticky and the staff is unhelpful and rude. Among the disorganized shelves\, you find it – the movie all your friends are quoting\, Mel Brooks’ Robin Hood: Men in Tights. The sticker on the cover reads “PG-13.” Your heart races as you slide the VHS tape onto the counter. Your exhausted parent doesn’t seem to notice. The handheld scanner beeps and the disgruntled teenaged employee slides the tape into a plastic bag. Third grade is gonna be YOUR year\, baby! \nTragically\, many of today’s youth will never know how good we used to have it. BUT you can give them the next best thing! From the mind of Chico Eastridge comes Video Stop II: Bad Video! Visit this pop up VHS store/ art installation December-January\, in the back of JAM to rent movies on VHS like the good ol’ days! Don’t have a way to play it? No problem! VHS players are also available for loan. \nOpen when we feel like it.

SUMMARY:Chronicle on Choice & Consequence
DESCRIPTION:A media arts exhibit in Junction Arts & Media by artist janet e. dandridge. \n“In 2019\, Yrneh Gabon\, Artivist & actor\, invited me to participate in a group show at the 2020 Dakar Biennale. Excited and eager to exhibit in my first international art fair\, I began creating a new live performance work. Then the Covid 19 pandemic happened. In 2022\, the biennale was re-opened and the group show was back on. However\, in 2021\, I became pregnant with my son. Once I became aware of the new dates for the biennale within months of its opening\, I had to make a quick decision\, “Do I withdraw completely\, or do I create a new work in this short period of time?” I realized that I could make a work using a readily accessible medium to convey the love\, the doubt\, the strength\, and the choices that must be made once someone becomes a parent. Chronicle on Choice and Consequence (CCC)\, an intimate video work\, explores the labor of motherhood and of one’s career. CCC reflects on definitions of labor\, and how pregnancy\, delivery\, and childrearing are undervalued. Chronicle on Choice and Consequence contributes to the discourse on improving laws\, and societal and cultural perspectives for Labor Rights and Women’s Rights.” \njanet e. dandridge. Mother\, Interdisciplinary Artivist\, Arts & Activism Educator and Consultant\, Liberator\, Listener\, Empathy Sustainer.
